Codes and Conventions

     In every magazine, conventions are utilized to perfectly organize and execute the final piece. Magazines display conventions in multiple ways that are specific their brand.  Masthead: top of the page, the title is typically in bold letters to attract readers, depending on the magazine Tagline: purpose is to inform readers what the magazine is about Cover line: gives the reader insight on what's inside the magazine Central Image: this image is large to attract readers and it is most likely the main story. Cover model: the cover model is usually a publicly known person or thing, so that it can grab a reader's attention Color scheme: attracting readers, it can be the same depending on the magazine Barcode: usually located in the bottom of the cover or last page, and is utilized for the reader to purchase the magazine

Genres

There is a countless amount of genres, some are general, but pothers are targeted to certain races, age groups, and religions. As a young black women, I personally subscribe to Essence and Support Black College Today.  Genres include: Review Anthology Journal Philosphy True Crime Comic book

Magazine Research

 In 1731, Edward Cave created the first documented periodical, which then shortly after became magazine. Herbert Ingram created the first illustrated magazine in 1842, almost and entire century later. These two men have left a wonderful legacy behind, without these pioneers the world may not be as we know it now. Back then magazines must have been so generic, but now, there are multiple genres for EVERYONE,

A Bit About Me

Hi, my name is Giniah but you know that already.  I am a senior in high school, and I play multiple sports including: volleyball, dance, and flag football. Ia m taking this class to learn how the media industry works. That is also a part of who I am, I always ask a ton of questions  because i always want to know the "why" or the "how".  In the very near future, I will hopefully be going off to Howard University where I will study Pre-law. My next step will be to go to Harvard Law school where i will get my Jurist Doctorate, JD, and eventually become  a lawyer.        My jersey number is 7 and this is the group shot yearbook picture of my volleyball team and I.

Reflection on Syllabus –       Explain 3 aspects  of the course  that you are looking forward too: I am looking forward to creating my own magazine about lifestyle. I want this magazine to be interactive so that I can connect with by targeted audience. I am excited to explore all of the things that I can learn as far as  Photoshop  goes. There are so many things  things  that you can do the  levitate  a picture to magazine cover. I love that I get to have creative freedom when creating my magazine so that it can be 100% me     Explain 3 aspects of the course that make you nervous: I have a fear of possibly saying something in my blog that would make someone feel bad, or question anything about themselves. Introduction

    Welcome,  my name is Giniah and this is my first blog post!! :)       I have chosen to create a four page magazine that will include, a magazine cover, contents page, and a double-page spread for my AICE Media Studies coursework. I will also be working as part of a team, but I will be submitting an individual project. Main Task: Developing the front page, contents, and a double page spread of a new magazine. I will create an individual edition of the magazine, using the same house style as the group. All text and images used will be original content with a minimum of four images.
