Codes and Conventions


    In every magazine, conventions are utilized to perfectly organize and execute the final piece. Magazines display conventions in multiple ways that are specific their brand. 



  1. Masthead: top of the page, the title is typically in bold letters to attract readers, depending on the magazine
  2. Tagline: purpose is to inform readers what the magazine is about
  3. Cover line: gives the reader insight on what's inside the magazine
  4. Central Image: this image is large to attract readers and it is most likely the main story.
  5. Cover model: the cover model is usually a publicly known person or thing, so that it can grab a reader's attention
  6. Color scheme: attracting readers, it can be the same depending on the magazine
  7. Barcode: usually located in the bottom of the cover or last page, and is utilized for the reader to purchase the magazine
