For this project I was able to develop my own personal thing, my  own personal branding for this magazine and I really appreciate that.  First with the masthead, I was able to put my masthead on the side and it’s called “Travelscene” so any type of, any story dealing with travel could be the feature story. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?   So for the first part of how does it engage with audiences I’ve had I conducted a survey earlier in the year, in the school year to see what my peers would like to see on a magazine as far as topic, masthead, content, colors, and things like that.  So my product is ventured towards not ventured,  sorry it’s targeted towards teens because of the survey they did specifically for teens. My, my product is for anyone but I specifically did this edition on a teenager so people could see the lifestyle of the teenagers around them, of different teenagers in the world. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?  How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?  Personally for my project, my product I create a magazine a travel magazine, but this edition was based on an army brat so you say an “army brat” but basically it’s based on child who is a military kid who is born into a military family and she has been traveling since she was five months old. It represents social groups, the social groups of military kids because it got that  deep dive into her life, and what it was like for her, and it took away the stigma of military kids. This is the template that I started my cover page with and this is how far I got now. I've completely changed the color scheme and rotation of the words. 

These are some images that I took at the airport and I plan on using them in my magazine.  

 This is my final draft that will be featured in the magazine. “All my life I have been up to my eyeline in boxes. ” These are the words of 17 year old Jada Lewis, the Teenage Nomad. To some that may be dreadful but Lewis seems to think otherwise. Lewis can be described as an army brat. “The term ‘army brat’ is used to refer to military kids,  it doesn’t bother me too bad”, Lewis says. Army brats tend to move multiple times during childhood and some may even travel across continents. “I was born in South Carolina! I was 5 months old when we moved from South Carolina to New Orleans, and I currently live in Atlanta.”   “I’ve lived in South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, Virginia, Hawaii, & now I’m currently in Atlanta, Georgia!  I will be taking all pictures for my magazine during spring break. I plan to showcase suitcases and any cool quotes that they have in the airport as well. I will try to do a photoshops with Jada Lewis over FaceTime in order to showcase her in the feature story.

Below is a rough draft of my unfinished feature story:   Being uprooted and constantly moving in the stage of adolescence can seriously harm the development of someone’s mental health and sociability. The term “army brat”, is a widely known phrase and it is used to describe the children of military families. These children are often subjected to not being able to settle down or feel secure in having a true “home”. It is often that military children are displeased with their situation and they hoped that they could stay in one place, but that is not the case for 17 year-old Jada Lewis who has lived in 7 places in total.  When moving around at a young age, each place can be totally different, but one factor constantly remains the same. School. There is usually a concern for children at a young age when it comes to them trading schools, but that concern tends to grow much larger when each school is across state lines. Has there been a place that you wished you would've stayed longer in? Were you ever mad that you had to move away? Did you get used to moving away? Do you feel like moving away has prepared you for life somehow? How was it always being the “new kid” at school? Do you make friends easily or do you usually stay to yourself?   Have you ever been afraid to get too attached to one place?   Where do you currently reside?   This will be the extra page to make the magazine seem more real. I may add extra pages later on but this is the only idea that I have for now. 

 These are my sketches for the two page spread table of contents. I love the two page spread because it makes it more original and specific to each edition. The first image is of a horizontal sketch and the second is vertical. I might go with the vertical because it looks better and no one will have to rotate the magazine to read it. 

 I have taken the suggestion from my survey and put the title on the side of the page. The main image is subject to change but that is the idea that I have in my mind for now.
